Just wanted to send a big congratulations out to Tandy Olsen for winning the Free Motion Event this past weekend.  Tandy took home the male entry with a time of 46 minutes and 35 seconds, edging out Brent Seeley by a mere 9 seconds!  For his efforts he received an entry into the 2014 Boston Marathon.  This has been something Tandy has wanted to do since he was a child and we are thrilled that this will be the year he will fulfill his dream!

Article of the Day: The TOP 12 reasons this why this 47 Year old hates CrossFit.

After nearly three years in, I have a love/hate relationship with Crossfit.

It’s mostly hate.

The majority of my 47 years were blissfully Crossfit-free, and I lived out my days happy and free of the dread associated with upcoming workouts and the soreness associated with past workouts. It was all good. (Except for the whole fat, weak, undisciplined, out-of-shape, crappy-quality-of-life part of it.)

And then, my do-gooder wife shamed me into it because she wanted to “lose weight” and “look and feel better.” Kicking and screaming, I went, lost 50 pounds, and had to listen to an incessant stream of I-told-you-sos. She’s now one of those annoying people who gushes on and on about how much she loves Crossfit and couldn’t live without it.

I’m not one of those people. What I love about Crossfit can be summed up quickly: I love it the second the WOD (workout of the day) is over. Everything up ’till then sucks.

What’s your day job? I’m a stay at home mom

How where you introduced to CrossFit? A friend of mine won a free month at CFST and asked me to come with her. I’ve been with crossfit for almost 2 years now. My friend decided after 2 months that it wasn’t for her.

What’s your favorite WOD or Lift? Power clean

What is your favorite skill/movement that you have learned at CrossFit? Kipping pullups and I’m working on butterfly

How has CrossFit changed your life? I love that I can walk in the gym thinking I’ll never be able to finish this work out, Then walking out feeling proud that I just kicked a#@!

What keeps you motivated and coming back for more? The challenge of learning something new and continually improving. I like the way crossfit makes me feel strong . And most definitely the friends I have met there.

loriWhat’s something you know now that you wish someone would have said to you when you started CrossFit? I wish I would have done a hydrostatic weigh in when I first started and then a year later to see the progress. I also wish I hadn’t watched so many youtube videos before I went… I was kind of intimidated;) Which is another thing I love about crossfit. It’s for everyone. Any age, any size, any skill level.

I have always wanted… to be rich enough to travel anywhere/anytime I want.

Outside of the gym, I like to… spend time with family, road bike, hike, travel, lay on a sandy beach 🙂

Favorite physical activity outside of CFI… road biking or hiking

Favorite place to eat in Cache Valley … Costa Vida or Elements.

Song(s) that gets me pumped up for a workout… “eye of the tiger” lol

The last thing I ate was… eggs and bacon + the countless treats from christmas

My proudest accomplishment is… being a mom (and stepmom)

My six month goal is… to eat healthier. Did I mention the massive amounts of cookies?!?

My favorite workout attire is… shorts and t-shirt

My favorite workout partner(s)… 9:00 am class and the South gym rocks!
